Founder and CEO, Campus Sonar
Liz (she/her) specializes in creating entrepreneurial social media strategies in higher education and has a passion for empowering others, which she brings to colleges and universities as the founder and CEO of Campus Sonar.
Liz is an award-winning speaker, author, and strategist who was named a 2018 Mover and Shaker by Social Shake-Up Show and a finalist on GreenBook’s 2019 GRIT Future List. She has delivered top-rated talks at SXSW, SXSW EDU, the American Marketing Association Symposium, the Carnegie Conference, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and others; and is the author of two indispensable guides for higher ed: The Higher Ed Social Listening Handbook and Fundamentals of Social Media Strategy: A Guide for College Campuses.
Liz has more than 15 years’ experience in higher education, spanning the private and public sector (including the University of Wisconsin campuses in Milwaukee and Waukesha). Since 2013, she’s focused on driving social listening forward as a source of business intelligence in higher education. She received a Ph.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service in Higher Education at Cardinal Stritch University, a master’s degree in educational policy and leadership from Marquette University, and a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Emma Jones
Executive Vice President, Owner, Credo
Emma (she/her) is a storyteller at heart. She’s passionate about changing the prevailing narratives about higher education by inspiring innovation and action within our client institutions and associations. With more than 20 years of experience working in and for colleges and universities, Emma guides national partnerships to build higher education leadership benches for the future, with an emphasis on empowering women and gender-diverse leaders.
As Credo’s Executive Vice President, Emma wears many hats. She oversees Credo’s brand, marketing, and sales teams, and plays a key role in developing our business strategy, culture, and diversity and inclusion efforts. As the Executive Editor for Credo Press, Emma worked closely with Credo co-founder Joanne Soliday on multiple publications. She also leads Credo’s Women in Leadership Initiative, which supports and develops cabinet-level and presidential leaders from across the country in partnership with the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U).
Emma speaks regularly to groups of leaders on the higher education landscape; how leaders sustain their energy and commitment in challenging roles; and as a REACH-certified facilitator, how to develop collaborative advantage through engaging effectively with diverse leadership styles.
